The attention of political parties has shifted to the governorship and State Houses of Assembly upload.
This followed the successful upload of the names and particulars of candidates for the presidential and National Assembly elections.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) candidate nomination portal for the national elections (president and National Assembly) will automatically shut down tonight at midnight.
The portal, which was initially scheduled to shut down last Saturday, July 11, was later extended by the commission following an appeal by the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), the umbrella body of all registered political parties in the country.
The parties are expected to begin the upload of the names and particulars of their governorship and State Assembly candidates from 9 a.m. on July 18 and close 6 p.m. on August 8.
Despite claiming successful upload of the names and particulars of their candidates, political parties are still keeping the list of their candidates secret.
The National Chairman of the Action Democratic Party (ADC), Yabagi Sani, told The Nation that the party had successfully uploaded its candidates to the INEC portal without any hitch.
Although he promised to make the list available to our correspondent, he did not fulfil his promise as at the time of filing this report last night. (The Nation)
