The Labour Party will convene its National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting on Thursday, June 11, 2026, to ratify results of recent primary elections conducted nationwide ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party said the meeting, in compliance with Article 28 of the Labour Party Constitution 2026, will bring together statutory NEC members, candidates who emerged from the primaries, INEC officials, party organs, media and the general public.
According to a statement which was signed and issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa, in Abuja, on Thursday, the NEC will ratify primary results across the country and approve submission of successful candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in line with the Electoral Act and party constitution.
The Labour Party added that presentation of Certificates of Return to candidates for President, Governor, Senate and House of Representatives will commence immediately after NEC ratifies the results.
Party leaders described the meeting as strategic, being the first NEC session since its recent National Convention and nomination of candidates for 2027.
“The meeting is of strategic importance to the party’s overall preparations and mobilisation efforts ahead of the forthcoming elections,” the statement said. (Vanguard)
