Anambra State Gov Chukwuma Soludo
Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Rt Rev Samuel Ezeofor has called on Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo to address the imbalance in its recent appointments which, he said favoured the Roman Catholic church against other denominations.
The Prelate gave the advice in his charge at the third session of the seventh synod of Diocese of Aguata with the theme: “God’s Great Task for the Church The Great commitment Raising a Godly Generation” held at St Andrews Parish Ezira in Orumba South LGA of the state.
He reminded the governor of the need to maintain good foundation laid by his administration.
The bishop also urged the government to check the excesses of its security outfit, Agunaechemba vigilance group.
He alleged the security outfit, established under the operation “Udo ga achi”, a joint task force appeared to be experiencing the same corruption that had been the bane of Nigerian security forces and outfits.
He regretted that apart from money being collected from the people with intimidation, the security outfit has turned themselves into funeral undertakers.
According to him, the operatives are now being hired to forcefully bury the dead against the content of family members.
“State government has good intention in setting up the operation udo ga achi but the activities of its operatives is bringing bad name to the government which needs to be addressed to give hope and confidence to the people,” he added.
Speaking on the State of the nation, Ezeofor who doubles as National Chairman, Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion (EFAC) Nigeria, described the problems of banditry, terrorism, herders menace, kidnappings and ethnic cleansing across the nation as global concern.
He called for concerted effort towards addressing the menace in addition to genocide against Christians.
The Prelate further called on the Federal Government to seek ways of revamping the economy to improve living standards of the people.
He also stressed the need to rescue the country from tilting to a one-party state in view of the growing ‘cross carpeting’ by political gladiators to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Also speaking, Chancellor of Aguata Diocese Justice Pete Obiora commended Bishop Ezeofor for being an epitome of humility in his episcopacy, urging those in leadership positions to always lead by example.
Some Synod delegates, Sir Obiora Okeke, President of Aguata council of Knights and Lady Ngozi Ike called on Christians to always maintain their pride as the salt and light of the earth to win souls for Christ. (The Nation)
