Nigerian troops have intensified counterterrorism operations in the North-East, killing a suspected ISWAP informant in Borno State while arresting another alleged collaborator during separate security operations in Adamawa.

Security sources said the operations were part of ongoing intelligence-driven offensives targeting terrorist networks, informants and logistics suppliers believed to be aiding insurgent activities across the region.

The suspected spy killed in Borno was reportedly intercepted during a military operation around a volatile area linked to insurgent movement and intelligence gathering. Troops were said to have acted swiftly after receiving credible information about suspicious activities connected to terrorist elements operating within the axis.

In a separate operation in Adamawa State, another suspect believed to be linked to insurgent activities was arrested by security operatives during a targeted raid. Preliminary investigations reportedly indicated that the suspect may have been involved in providing support and information to terrorist groups operating in parts of the North-East

Military authorities have continued to express concern over the growing use of informants and local collaborators by insurgent groups to monitor troop movements, evade attacks and coordinate operations within vulnerable communities.

The latest operations come amid intensified military offensives across Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states as security forces push to dismantle remaining terrorist enclaves and disrupt intelligence networks supporting insurgent activities.
