Panic erupted in Eziobodo on Wednesday evening after suspected Fulani herdsmen reportedly attacked residents along the Okohia forest axis between Ihiagwa and Eziobodo in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State.
The incident, which occurred at about 6:30 p.m., caused fear and confusion in the area as residents fled for safety.
Eyewitnesses said the armed men were sighted along the Okohia forest path with some persons believed to have been abducted.
According to sources in the community, some residents returning home encountered the suspected gunmen and attempted to flee after noticing the armed group. The attackers allegedly opened fire on them during the chaos.

“Three people were wounded, including a four-year-old boy,” an eyewitness disclosed.
When contacted, the Youth Leader of Umuezeala, Eziobodo, Prince China Okoro, confirmed the attack but dismissed reports circulating on social media that over 200 persons were killed.
“Yes, our people were attacked and three persons were wounded, including a four-year-old boy who sustained injuries on his head,” Okoro said.
He added, “I want to tell the world that contrary to the reported 200 people said to have been killed, it is not true. Only three persons were wounded.” (The Nation)
