Father and son
Former Chief of Army Staff and Nigeria’s ex-Ambassador to Benin, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai CFR (Rtd), has called on Nigerians to unreservedly support youth in pursuing their dreams and participating in politics. He made this appeal on his verified Facebook page while endorsing his son, Captain Tukur Buratai Jnr, a young pilot, as he enters the political arena. Captain Buratai Jnr is set to contest for the Borno State House of Assembly seat of Biu Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC), the national ruling party.
General Buratai emphasized that Nigeria’s future hinges on its vibrant youth, warning that excluding them from governance undermines national development. He stressed that young Nigerians are not just leaders of tomorrow but solution providers today, urging the creation of an enabling environment for their aspirations to thrive. His endorsement of his son’s ambition reflects his firm belief in youth-led leadership and the need to bridge the generational gap in politics.
The moment of a father blessing his son symbolizes the transfer of wisdom and patriotic zeal to the next generation. Captain Buratai Jnr’s candidacy under the APC is seen as a strategic move to infuse youthful vigour into legislative affairs.
As elections draw near, Buratai’s message serves a clear purpose: empowering youth to dream without limits and help them realize their potential in shaping Nigeria’s future. His words reflect an enduring commitment to national service, whether in military or civilian life.
