Oyo State Police Command has launched a rescue operation following the abduction of a 60-year-old businessman in the Jinarere area of Alakia, Ibadan.
The victim, a prominent building materials trader, was intercepted by kidnappers on Saturday evening while he was returning to his residence.
The state police command confirmed the development through a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade.
According to preliminary reports, the victim was accosted along the Alakia Road axis by four masked gunmen who forced him into an unregistered ash-coloured Toyota Corolla before fleeing the scene.
Ayanlade stated that the command has deployed resources to ensure the safe rescue of the victim and the apprehension of the suspects.
While investigations are ongoing, the police have urged members of the public to provide any relevant information that could assist in tracking the vehicle or identifying the assailants involved in the incident. (Nigerian Tribune)
