Photo combination of late Oghenemine Ogidi and his mourning mother
The mother of Oghenemine Ogidi, the 28-year-old musician popularly known as OG Millan, has alleged that she has lost two sons to Police brutality in separate incidents.
This is coming as fresh allegations continue to trail Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Nuhu Usman, who is currently in detention over the fatal shooting of her younger son in Delta State.
The emotional encounter video sighted by Vanguard on Facebook came to light during a condolence visit to the bereaved family by the former Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Delta State Governor, Harrison Gwamnishu, along with his team, who met with the victim’s mother. She broke down in tears while recounting her ordeal.
According to her, the pain she is currently enduring is not new, insisting that Oghenemine was her second son to be killed in circumstances involving police officers.
“My two children were killed by the police,” she lamented. “They first took my son in 2022, and now they have taken another one from me again. How do I survive this?”
Police authorities had earlier confirmed that the officer was taken into custody after the musician was shot during an operation by operatives attached to the Area Command, Effurun. The Command stated that the team had acted on intelligence about a suspect allegedly in possession of a firearm.
Although the Police maintained that the suspect, identified in their report as Mene Ogidi, was apprehended with a Beretta pistol and ammunition, a viral video circulating on social media has sparked widespread controversy. The footage appears to show the victim restrained, pleading for his life before being shot. (Vanguard)
