The Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, has flagged off indigeneship verification for the university’s 2026/2027 admission process.
This is contained in a statement posted on the university’s website on Tuesday.
Olatunji-Bello, who inaugurated the Independent Indigeneship Verification Committee on Monday, reaffirmed LASU’s commitment to transparency, fairness and integrity in its admission process.
She said that objectivity in the verification remained central to the credibility of the university’s admissions system.
She described the exercise as a critical safeguard for equity and public trust, urging the committee to discharge its duties with professionalism, objectivity and strict adherence to approved guidelines.
The vice-chancellor reiterated the university’s zero tolerance for any form of compromise.
According to her, screening for candidates of Lagos State origin will be conducted in four phases from April 27 to May 22.
The vice-chancellor charged the committee members to strictly comply with the schedule while maintaining efficiency and orderliness.
According to the Chairman of committee, Prof. Moruf Animashaun, more than 7,000 candidates admitted in LASU in the 2025/2026 academic session were Lagos State indigenes. (NAN)
