ADC logo and president Tinubu
The African Democratic Congress, South-West zone, has plotted the defeat of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the region as it insisted that Nigerians are ready for a credible alternative ahead of the 2027 general elections.
This position was made known during the maiden South-West zonal press conference of the party held under the leadership of Hon. Akinbowale Omole, the National Vice Chairman (South-West), in Ibadan.
Omole disclosed that the zone has begun a new phase of mobilisation and reorganisation.
According to Omole, the new South-West leadership was formally inaugurated in Ibadan in February 2026 with the approval of the party’s National Caucus and National Working Committee. The inauguration was performed by Rauf Aregbesola, who currently serves as National Secretary of the party.
He stated that the ADC has become the most credible alternative to what he described as the failed administration of President Tinubu.
He added that the party is committed to rescuing Nigeria from hardship, insecurity, economic decline and poor governance.
On the South-West political climate, Omole said support for any president should not be based on regional sentiment but on measurable performance, integrity and socio-economic development.
He further stated that the Yoruba people are known globally for the Omoluabi ethos of accountability and principled leadership, adding that the current administration does not reflect those values.
He also urged Nigerians, especially those in the South-West, to join the party and intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of 2027.
Among the newly elected state chairmen introduced at the event were:
Jimoh Afees Adelowo – Oyo State
Azeez Issa Adesiji – Osun State
George Ashiru – Lagos State
Emmanuel Famojuro – Ogun State
Bamidele Ekunola – Ekiti State
Tola Alabere – Ondo State
Other top officials present included:
Tunji Shalle, Bode Ayorinde, Fabiyi Oladimeji, Kafilat Olayiwola, Bashir Aremu Lawal Olufemi Adeleye, Lydia Olafunmiloye, Elizabeth Olusi, Yidiat Oseni and Motunrayo Odumosu.
