Nigerias most decorated womens footballer, Asisat Oshoala
CAF’s Appeal Board overturned Senegal’s 1–0 victory in the final, ruling that their walk-off in protest of a stoppage-time penalty breached Articles 82 and 84 of the disciplinary code. The match was subsequently recorded as a 3–0 forfeit win in favour of Morocco.
The ruling, announced on Tuesday night, effectively stripped Senegal of the title won on the pitch and crowned Morocco as champions, triggering widespread debate across the football community.
The Super Falcons striker took to her official X (formerly Twitter) account to express her frustration after the verdict.
“In CAF book, not in OUR book!!!” she wrote in response to reports confirming the decision.
Oshoala went further, questioning what she described as CAF’s growing preference towards Morocco, particularly in hosting major tournaments and awards.
“The big question here is, when will this whole CAF compensation to Morocco end? Awards, tournaments and all… It’s getting boring now. We need other countries to step up,” she added.
“Morocco is the African champion in YOUR book (CAF), not in ours!!!”
Her comments reflect growing dissatisfaction among players and stakeholders, with critics raising concerns over governance, transparency and competitive integrity in African football.
The controversy Is expected to intensify, with the Senegalese Football Federation confirming plans to challenge the ruling at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). (BusinessDay)
