Former Governor of Delta State, Senator Okowa
IMMEDIATE past governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has said that he appeared to be growing younger because his successor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori was giving him peace and doing things that were pleasing to the people of the State.
Okowa spoke at Asaba, the State capital during the inauguration of the Forum of Labour Veterans and Associations on Wednesday, praising Oborevwori for his developmental strides across the state.
He said it would have been difficult for him to be at peace if Governor Oborevwori had been leading in a manner that was not pleasing to the people.
He said: “If you look at me, l appear to be growing younger, why? Because I have peace and that is the truth. I have peace and l thank God for that. The governor himself is giving me peace, l am staying in my space and l am not troubled by things. I thank God also, because l have good relationships across the state.”
According to the former Governor, “God gave me an insight and l supported him to win an election, but the thing is, performing in office is going to be dependent on him, not me, because he is the man in office and he is doing a lot of things that are very pleasing to our people.”
He said the Governor had embarked on various major projects across the state, many of which, people don’t know about.
“Yes, the flyovers in Warri; that is what we are seeing, but there are so many major projects that are still going on elsewhere. Now they have flagged off the one in Otovwodo junction and that is ongoing.
“They have flagged off the major flyover in Agbor, followed with the erosion control in that area that is ongoing. Those, you can easily see, but there are so many major projects that he is undertaking and to God be the glory.
“So, why am l happy? He (Oborevwori) has not failed me and according to our language in Delta, he no fall my hand, so why l no go happy? He no fall my hand.
“Secondly, as at today, l am not getting complains about salaries not being paid. Even pensions are being paid.” (Vanguard)
