The All Progressives Congress (APC) Igbo Youth Forum has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to review the appointment of Obinna Ihedioha as Executive Director of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), citing concerns over the process and the choice of candidate.

In a statement signed by its national coordinator, Chukwuemeka Chidi, the forum stressed the importance of careful consideration when assigning sensitive roles, particularly positions involving people management, stakeholders, and communication.

The group emphasized that appointments should prioritise competence and experience relevant to the responsibilities of the office.

The forum noted that the Southeast region has numerous qualified APC members capable of filling federal positions and urged that future appointments recognise the contributions and capabilities of party members in the region.

Highlighting the strategic nature of the role, the group expressed that assigning leadership of people, stakeholders, and communication requires careful vetting to maintain confidence and effectiveness in the NRS.

The APC Igbo Youth Forum warned that the current decision could discourage grassroots mobilisation and send a negative signal to party supporters who invested time and resources in defending the party in the Southeast. (The Nation)
