
Kaduna State government is set to recruit retired midwives to be deployed to Primary Healthcare Centers (PHC) in the state.
Dr. Paul Manya Dogo, the State Commissioner of Health and Human Services, disclosed this while responding to questions on healthcare challenges during the “#Open Kaduna State Ministry of Health#” media briefingon Fridayin Kaduna.
He said the ministry has made submission to the governor on the planned recruitment of manpower in the state.
He said advert for the international competitive bidding for the 300-bed Specialist Hospital project will soon be placed for the equipping of the hospital.
“I can assure you that, our government will complete this hospital project left behind by previous administration,” he said.
He said government is doing a lot to revive the primary health care system in the state.
According to the commissioner, “The quality of primary health centres is being improved. Contractors have been appointed, two per Local Government Area to supervise renovation and upgrading of 255 PHCs.
“Kaduna State Government and General Electric (GE) signed the contract agreement worth N1.59 million for the procurement of equipment for the 255 Ward PHCs and 23 General Hospitals in the state, which will serve as referral centres for the 255 PHCs.”
