President Tinubu
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders have asked President Bola Tinubu to shelve the idea of seeking re-election in 2027, noting that he would be rejected at the polls.
The stakeholders, under the aegis of the Conference of Professionals in the Peoples Democratic Party (CP-PDP), said a critical assessment of the country under Tinubu in the past two years reveals that the president has allegedly performed woefully.
The CP-PDP, in a statement by its Protem National Coordinator, Obinna Nwachukwu, dismissed the President’s New Year address as a litany of unsupported performance claims and projections that are inconsistent with reality.
“CP-PDP’s advice to President Tinubu to jettison any reelection ambition is predicated on the widespread disapproval and loss of confidence by Nigerians in his administration, which has been rated as the worst in the history of the nation due to its unprecedented failures.
“This is in addition to several national and international independent governance ratings, which ranked the Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) administration as the most inept, most insensitive, and most corrupt in the history of Nigeria.
“The Conference notes as appalling that the APC administration has not been able to chart any clear direction for security, economy, and other critical sectors such as education, health, housing, power, transport, and infrastructure,” the statement noted.
It added that the government has allegedly pushed “obnoxious policies leading to the suffocation of the productive and service sectors, a dearth of investment incentives, the exit of multinationals, and the closure of SMEs with attendant massive job losses; the collapsed purchasing power of citizens, biting hardship, and a complete sense of hopelessness across the country.
“Today, the majority of Nigerians, even across party lines, are eagerly waiting for 2027 to vote out the APC and enthrone a truly people-oriented government, which only the PDP can guarantee.” (The Sun)
