The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has described the recent bomb attack at a mosque in Maiduguri, Borno, as a grim reminder that terrorism and insecurity in Nigeria are yet to be brought under control.
The position was contained in a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the ACF, Professor Tukur Baba, and made available to journalists in Kaduna on Friday.
According to the statement, the Forum received reports of a bomb explosion at a mosque in Maiduguri on Wednesday, December 24, 2025.
“ACF regrets and condemns the attack in unequivocal terms. We mourn the dead and pray for the peaceful repose of their souls,” the statement said.
The Forum also expressed sympathy for those injured in the attack, wishing them a speedy recovery.
“We commiserate with the injured and wish them a quick return to health in the shortest time possible,” it added.
ACF extended its condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, as well as to the Government and people of Borno State, and Nigerians at large.
The Forum noted that the incident underscores the persistence of terrorism and insecurity in the country.
“Viewed in context, this sad event is a grim reminder that the scourge of terrorism and insecurity is yet to be tamed or, at least, brought under control,” the statement said.
Recalling its earlier Christmas message, ACF urged security authorities to intensify efforts against terrorists and criminal elements.
“The fight against insecurity is one that the concerned authorities must prosecute with all the vigour that the problem deserves. It is utterly inconceivable and totally unacceptable for criminals to be allowed to bring the country to its knees,” the Forum stated.
Going forward, ACF called for heightened vigilance, particularly in places where people gather, such as places of worship, markets, and social events.
“Anti-social agents of terror and other criminal elements, foreign or domestic, must not be allowed to claim any victory over normalcy,” the statement concluded. (TRIBUNE)
