8 arrested over attack on NTA Onitsha Station

The Anambra State Police Command on Wednesday arrested eight suspects in connection with an attack on Nigerian Television Authority station in Onitsha, a report from the area said.

The suspects were reported to have carried the attack in the early hours of Wednesday, before they were repelled by police officers on duty, Channels TV reported.
It quoted Anambra Police Commissioner, Mr Sam Okaula, as saying that with the gates locked, the suspects made their way through the bush and set the Star Times store and a toilet on fire.
Mr Okaula also noted that “they left a locally made explosive device at the security post and tried to detonate it with gunshots.”
He added that the Anti Bomb Squad has defused the device and promised to beef up security in the area.
