Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, NNPP Chieftain
Former Governor of Kano State and National leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has dismissed suggestions that his political party, NNPP, has submitted a letter of intent to join one of the nation’s political parties.
Kwankwaso said the online report in this regard was nothing but a rumor or fabricated report.
He affirmed that the NNPP which he leads remains committed to its current path and vision while enjoining the general public, especially party supporters, to disregard the speculation.
“We have been alerted to some online statements suggesting that we have submitted a letter of intent to join a political party in the country. We would like to clarify that we have not made any such submission to any party” he stated
“The public is therefore advised to stay informed of any further information regarding our matter through the established official channels,” he added
It could be recalled that Kwankwaso recently listed the conditions to joining any of the political parties in Nigeria, especially the All Progressives Congress (APC).
On that occasion, he affirmed that “We will accept to join the APC if invited, but we must know what the NNPP will benefit from them when we join. What will be the position of our Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf?
“We also have Senators and Reps members as well as others holding positions in the state government, when we join the APC what will be their fate? Provide us with the answers.”
“If you say I should go back to the APC, I’m willing to re-join, and I didn’t say I won’t join even now, but on what terms?” Kwankwaso queried.
“When I was with the APC and PDP, they didn’t respect my integrity; we only worked for ungrateful people who never appreciated what we did. We worked for them, they won elections, and dumped us aside – we’re all witnesses to this.”
Now that we’re settled and not in a hurry to leave the NNPP, however, if there are those who want to work with us in total honesty and transparency, such that we won’t be treated the way we were in the past, we’re ready for it.” he stated. (The Sun)
