IGP Tunji Disu
A middle-aged man who narrowly escaped death in the hands of a gang of hoodlums in Ofulonu community, Nsukka, Enugu State, Mr. Jude Eze Oforka, has sent a save-my-soul plea to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Tunji Disu, over the activities of some police officers at the Force Criminal Investigations Annex in Enugu by changing his case of attempted murder to two fighting.
The complainant claimed that he and members of his family were violently attacked by the hoodlums, leaving the matriarch critically injured.
The attack reportedly occurred when the suspected hoodlums stormed the home of Mr. Juse Eze Oforka and his wife, Nkechi Eze, tied the hands and legs of family members and subjected them to severe beatings, leaving several of them with serious injuries.
A family friend, Mr. Asogwa Chibueze, who tried to intervene during the assault, sustained serious injuries.
The attackers recorded the brutal attack and posted the footage on social media apparently as a warning to residents who might try to stop their criminal activities.
Based on this, Mr. Oforka petitioned the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Enugu Annex, alleging attempted murder, armed robbery, cultism and grievous assault. The petitioner also alleged that the hoodlums stole a Techno Spark 40 mobile phone valued at about N250,000.00 containing the complainant's SIM card, as well of N55,000.00 in cash.
He further claimed that when the case came before the AIG, he frowned and condemned the attempted murder and directed that the suspects, including the eldest person, be arrested and invited for police interrogation. According to him, the case took a different dimension when the investigating police officer refused to invite the suspects for interrogation.
“The IPO later invited them but changed the case to two fighting after collecting the sum N300,000.00 through POS paid to account number 827367117, Moniepoint in the name Igwe Chidiebere dated March 14th, 2026 given by the complainant,” Mr. Oforka alleged.
He further alleged that the sum of N500,000.00 was also paid to enable the IPO go and invite/arrest the suspects for the attempted murder case. However, according to him, when the suspects were later invited and interrogated, what the IPO surprisingly wrote on the charge sheet was two fighting. “All efforts I made to make the IPO stop the miscarriage of justice failed hence I am making this passionate appeal to the Inspector General of Police to come to my aid," Mr. Oforka lamented in his save-my-soul plea to IGP Disu.
