ADC Chieftain Umar
Hon. Abdullahi Umar, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and National Coordinator of the ADC National Alliance for Good Governance, has issued a strong response to recent reports of internal party disputes following the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) recognition of the David Mark-led faction.
In a statement issued Monday in Kano, Umar, a House of Representatives candidate for Tarauni Federal Constituency, Kano, during the 2023 elections emphasized unity within the ADC and condemned attempts by external forces to destabilize the party. He expressed confidence in the leadership of the Sen David Mark-led National Working Committee and urged ADC members to remain calm and focused despite the ongoing legal battles.
According to Hon. Abdullahi Umar, “The ADC remains steadfast in its commitment to democratic principles and will not allow its platform to be hijacked by paid agents of the APC, especially impostors like Nafiu Gombe and Kachikwu, The court process will determine the rightful leadership, and we trust the judiciary to deliver justice based on the rule of law.”
Hon Umar commends INEC’s decision to recognize the Sen David Mark-led leadership, saying: “We have been vindicated, because all along we knew the APC has been trying to usurp democratic rule, through proxies. The false alarm raised, and intimidation of INEC, by APC agents parading as factional ADC leaders is laughable, because they’ve been put to shame hence this desperate shenanigans.”
He reiterated the party's determination to safeguard its mandate and called on all members to reject divisive tactics. “Our strength lies in our unity and shared vision for a better Nigeria. The ADC National Alliance for Good Governance, stands firmly behind the party’s leadership and will continue mobilizing grassroots support to promote peace and democratic governance,” Umar added.
Concluding his remarks, Hon. Abdullahi Umar appealed to the judiciary to swiftly resolve the leadership dispute and urged INEC to resist any arm twisting tactics and stand on the path of truth”.
