Obaseki wins Distinguished Peace Ambassador Award

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in theSeptember 10governorship election in Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, was on Wednesday decorated with the Independent Television & Radio (ITV) Distinguished Peace Ambassador Award in appreciation of his efforts towards promoting peace and unity in the state.

The Media Plus Communication & Special Events Committee of ITV presented the award to Obaseki when the team visited him at his campaign office in Benin City.
Leader of the delegation, Sunny Duke-Okosun, in his remark noted, “The Distinguished Peace Ambassador Award is in special recognition of individuals and organisations that, through their work, have fostered an environment of peace, which is a pre-requisite for sustainable development of any society.”
“Godwin Obaseki has distinguished himself not only in private enterprise but also in public service as Pioneer Chairman of the Economy & Strategy Team in Edo State over the last seven and half years. His achievements are truly outstanding and worthy of emulation and this is why the voting public has deemed him a worthy recipient of the award.”
Receiving the award, Obaseki said, “This award is very dear to my heart because I have always been an advocate of peaceful co-existence upon which the realization of our full potential as a state is hinged. When we all work together, in peace and unity, only then can we be able to build the Edo State and the Nigeria of our dreams.”
Obaseki also made a donation towards the purchase of anti-malaria drugs for the Edo Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp, in support of the on-going pet project of the special event committee. “The displaced persons are Nigerian citizens too, and they did not choose to be where they are today. We have always supported them, and will continue work towards their rehabilitation and reintegration as productive members of the society,” Obaseki promised.
