The North West zone of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has issued a warning that about eight local government areas in Kaduna State are likely to be affected by flood.
The Zonal Coordinator of the agency, Musa Ilalah, gave the warning on Tuesday during an interview with Channels Television.
He explained that the agency has alerted communities living very close to river banks to leave the areas before the floods come.
He also asked the State Government to, as a matter of urgency, embark on a massive sensitisation to residents of the affected Communities to see the need of moving away from the flood prone areas.
He further disclosed that the agency has taken all proactive measures to mitigate any flood disaster that may likely occur, warning residents to stop the indiscriminate dumping of refuse inside gutters or buildings along water ways. (Channels TV)
