The Senior Staff Association of the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) says it is not aware of any plan by the authority to retrench workers.
The president of the association, Mr Benson Adegbeyeni said this on Saturday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
He said the management of NPA had not briefed the association on matters in involving retrenchment of workers.
He said that a report that claimed that workers who had either spent 30 years in service or had attained the age of 55 years would be retrenched by NPA could not be true.
“Everybody is going about his normal duty and the management has not told anybody they want to retrench.”
He, nonetheless, cautioned that should there be any development bordering on retrenchment of workers, the association would react. (NAN)
