A keke (commercial tricycle) operator, identified as Lucky Okoro has returned the sum of N4m that was forgotten in his automobile by a female passenger, saying that he did so because of his Bible-trained conscience as a Jehovah’s Witness. The incident, which took place recently in Aba, the famed commercial hub of Abia State in South-East Nigeria, has been trending on social media this last weekend of June 2025.
Reports say that the female passenger, identified as a Camerounian, boarded the commercial tricycle at the popular park by Milverton to Ariaria International Market where she was going for shopping.
Okoro, an indigene of Umuomei, Obingwa Local Government Area of the state,was said to have noticed a bag in his tricycle after all the passengers had disembarked.
“Worried to know the content of the bag, Okoro decided to open the bag, only to find out a huge sum of cash was inside the bag and when he counted the money, it was N4m,” according to a report by The Nation.
Suspecting that the passenger may be looking for her money, Okoro, popularly known as Onye Photo, reportedly traced the woman from the point where he picked her and when he didn’t see her, he decided to trace her to the point where she alighted from his automobile.
“Just as his conscience was guiding him, he saw the troubled woman in tears at the location where she alighted from the tricycle and handed over the said amount to the woman who went into wild jubilation as she had lost hope of getting the money back,” the report says.
It adds that despite being mocked and called different derogatory names by his colleagues over his decision to return the money to the owner, Okoro expressed pride in his actions, emphasising his faith and integrity as a Jehovah’s Witness. “I love what I did,” he said. “I need a new keke, but not another woman’s money.”
Okoro, who hails from a humble background in Obingwa, attributed his actions to his devotion to Jehovah, stating, “I have made your name to be praised.”
His selfless act has sparked admiration across Aba, as many residents hailed him for shining a light on the power of honesty and compassion.
