True to his nickname, Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko alias Iroko, today completed his conquest over his political foes when – as happened at the election tribunal and the appeal tribunal – he crushed them at the Supreme Court.
It was yet another tale of victory for the Labour Party (LP) supremo as the apex sitting in Abuja, the Nigerian capital, struck out the appeal brought against him by the former Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) governorship candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Olusola Oke.
The unanimous decision dismissing the petition for lack of merit was read by Justice Sylvester Nguta and Mary Odili, who declared that both the ACN and PDP candidates could not substantiate their claims of injection of names into the voters register used for the October 20, 2012 Ondo governorship election.
The two justices argued that if the names were injected, the petitioners could not prove to the court who the persons were and how many times they voted during the election convincingly won by Mimiko to earn a second four-year term of office.
