Jibrin releases more damning evidence of Speaker Dogara’s alleged padding of 2016 budget

Former chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation Abdulmumin Jibrin has released more damning evidence about the role of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara in the budget padding scandal.

Jibrin started slamming allegations of corruption against Dogara and other members of the house leadership when he was removed as the chairman of the appropriations committee last month.

Last Wednesday, Dogara had given him seven days to apologies for the allegations or face a lawsuit, but the legislator vowed not apologies to Dogara, instead calling the speaker a “shameless fraud”.

On Monday Jibrin released more documents which he says will confirm, his claims that some lawmakers manipulated line items in the 2016 Appropriation Bill.

The new document also reveals how several lawmakers allegedly padded the budget.

One of the lawmakers mentioned in the document Appropriation Committee’s deputy, Chris Azubago, who Jibrin accuses of padding the budget with several constituency projects.

Jibrin also says he will report the matter Nigeria’s major anti-corruption agencies so that the matter can be investigated.

In a tweet, Jibrin said he had instructed his lawyers to book appointments with several security agencies so he could file his petition.

He wrote, “My lawyers have confirmed my appointments for today with security and anti corruption agencies to personally provide insight on my petition,”

“We will be at the ICPC 10am, DSS 12noon, EFCC 2pm and Police HQ 4pm. The law will surely catch up with the corrupt Speaker Dogara and others.” (TV360 Nigeria)
