Accomplished banker and administrator, Chief Willie Obiano, has drawn the battle-line with Senator Chris Ngige of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Andy Uba of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah of the Labour Party (LP), after winning the
All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) primaries with a landslide.
Obiano, who is exuding confidence ahead of the November 16 Anambra State governorship election, this evening beat off strong competition from the six other other aspirants, including House of Reps member, Iyom Uche Ekwunife, and one-time Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Paul Odenigbo. The former Fidelty Bank Executive Director won the primaries held in the state capital, Awka, with 817 of the votes, while Ekwunife came a distant second with 150 votes.
A late entrant into the race, Obiano hails from the Omambala Clan in Anambra North Senatorial District. He has pledged to continue with the Anambra Integrated Development Strategy (ANIDS), the development model of incumbent Governor Peter Obi, who completes his second and final tern in March next year.
