Officials of the Immigration Service in Abia State have arrested 75 illegal immigrants from Niger Republic.

Parading the illegal immigrants at the state headquarters in Umuahia, the State Comptroller of Immigration, Mrs Anthonia Okpara, said they were arrested in Umuahia and Aba following the mop-up exercise carried out by the command.

Mrs Okpara disclosed that the illegal immigrants who came into Abia without valid documents would be repatriated to their country.

She added that the command is committed to ensuring that any foreigner coming into the state must have a valid document and a trade, to save the state from any form of security threat.

Mrs Okpara advised those who engage the services of the illegal immigrants to desist from doing so but partner with the Immigration Service to fish out all illegal immigrants in the state as they could pose security threat to citizens of the country.

She commended the State Government for its support and cooperation with the command and assured of the command’s commitment to the security of the state.
