Nigerian sports writers have appealed to Nigerians living in the United States to go and support Joana Nwamerue who would be fighting in Hard Rock Casino, Soundwaves, Atlantic City in New Jersey on Friday, October 30, 2026.

According to them, Nigerians resident in US should exhibit the African spirit of, ‘being your brothers and sisters’ keeper.

They said that Nwamerue is doing Nigeria proud and as such deserve all the support that she could get from her country men and women during the fight.

According to them, massive Nigerian presence at the venue would motivate her who already have seven professional fight wins to do what she knows how to do best.

Tayo Adeleja, a SWAN executive said that he has followed Nwamerue for some time and have seen that she would bring lots of laurels to her father land.

According to him, the lady is determined for success, adding that all she needs is support from Nigerians.

"As a veteran sports writer, I have come across lots and lots of women in sports but I have not seen a lady that is as hungry for success as Nwamerue. Her focus and determination to make a difference in the ring and even outside the ring is out of this world. She works as if she was denied success in her previous life and now wants to make sure that it would not happen in this life. So, I am appealing to Nigerians in the United States to troop out enmasse to the venue of the fight to give support.

Also contributing, another veteran sports writer Ori Martins said that he is seeing Nwamerue in the class of Claressa Shields, the two-time Olympic medalist, who usually call herself Greatest Woman of all time and Katie Taylor, the Olympic gold medalist and multi-division undisputed champion.

According to him, the training that Nwamerue had in gymnasium, taekwondo and kick boxing would make her unstoppable in the ring.

“Nwamerue always said that she is the bigger killer inside the ring and I agree with her. She is a total package, a dynamite waiting to explode in the ring. She came into pro boxing very prepared and ready to deliver. But she cannot do it alone. She needs the support of her country men and women and I want to use this forum to appeal to Nigerians living in the United States to go to New Jersey to support her. Seeing a lot of black faces in the venue would give her all the motivation that she needs to be victorious,” Martins said.
