Dare-devil armed robbers who stormed and abducted a two-year-old boy from his parents abandoned him along the road, with a notice indicating how to return the toddler to his parents.
According to the Abia State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Onyeke Udeviotu, the two-year old boy abducted at gunpoint from his parents at Umuolu Umugo community of Ugwunagbo local government of Abia state on March 19, 2016 was rescued by the Police at Owerrinta Isiala Ngwa North.
Udeviotu attributed the boy’s rescue to prompt report made by his parents to the Police.
He explained that two masked men armed with short guns, struck as the family was retiring for the night at about 8.30 pm and ordered the husband to hand over the keys of his motorcycles to them.
“After the hoodlums were told that the family did not own a motorcycle, the bandits bound the man and his wife and also blindfolded them before taking away one of their children who was already asleep,” the PPRO said in a statement.
However, as soon as the family regained freedom after hoodlums had fled, the family reported the incident to the Police who alerted other formations and those on patrol to watch out for the criminals and their victim.
When it dawn on the bandits that they could no longer get away with their victim, they abandoned the boy with a notice instructing whoever finds him should return him to Umuolu Umugo in Ugwunagbo local government area.
The Police found the victim and reunited him with his family.
Udeviotu said Police was on the trail of the perpetrators so as to bring them to justice.
