Workers of the Federal Ministry of Health yesterday staged a peaceful protest to demand better incentives and the resignation of the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Aminat Shamaki.
Many of the workers carried placards with inscriptions such as: “Dr. Shamaki must go, let ministry of Health survive; No training of staff since 2015, Head of Service, please save Ministry of Health”; “Dr. Shamaki is inexperienced, we need experienced perm sec”; “Maladministration by perm sec”.
The chairman, Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, Comrade Hassan Abah, accused the permanent secretary of running a ‘one man’ administration which he said was detrimental to smooth operations in the ministry.
At the office of Head of Service of the Federation (OHCSF) the Permanent Secretary Career Management Office, Mr. Innocent Ogbonnaya, assured the workers that their grievances would soon be addressed. (Daily Trust)
