Chibok girls still in Sambisa Forest: Intelligence Report •We’re closing in —War Commander

Credible military intelligence indicates that the over 200 Chibok school girls abducted and kept by Boko Haram since April 14, 2014 are still in the Sambisa Forest stronghold of the terrorists, the war commander has said.

Maj. Gen. Lucky Irabor, Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya DOLE, was on Monday morning quoted by CNN as saying that intelligence surrounding the current location of the Chibok girls does, in fact, point to the Sambisa corridor, where his forces continue to advance deeper.

CNN quoted Gen. Irabor as saying: “The question of the Chibok girls remains a sore point in our history.

“The biometrics – as it were – of the Chibok girls are not known to us. Those are the issues which I believe are among the challenges.

“We think, from the intelligence available to us, that the remaining areas that we are working to move into, that is where we are hoping to be able to rescue the Chibok girls.”

The report quoted the war commander as stressing the need for more international support even as he claimed that over 2,000 women and girls have been rescued in the last several months.

“We do have pockets of the Boko Haram terrorists still left in some places but very largely we’ve decimated them,” CNN reported Gen. Irabor as saying.
