Ex-militants threaten mass destruction of oil installations

Ex-militants from the oil producing areas of Imo State who benefited from the amnesty programme of the Federal Government under the aegis Niger Delta Youths have threatened to destroy oil installations and pipelines in the state if the Presidential Amnesty Programme fails to accommodate them in the third phase.

The Commander-General of the ex-militants in the state, Mr Uzoma Bobby Chukuwma, issued the threat yesterday in Owerri when he led other members to the office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Bureau for Niger Delta Affairs.

He said, “We are prepared to die in our struggle; it is unfortunate that after surrendering our arms which we feed with since last year, we are yet to be accommodated in the amnesty programne”

Chukwuma regretted their non-inclusion into the second phase of the programme since they surrendered their arms and ammunitions to the security agencies.
