The Kano State High Court, presided over by Justice Hadiza Suleiman on Friday, restrained the Kano State Censorship Board and its Executive Secretary, Abba El-Mustapha, from suspending or interfering with the operations of three companies in the Kannywood media industry.
The court also issued an injunction prohibiting their servants, agents, privies, assigns, or any other person acting on their behalf from suspending or interfering with the operations of these three companies.
The applicants in the suit are Kannywood Enterprises LTD, Amart Entertainment, and Hajiya Aisha Tijjani, while the respondents are the Kano State Censorship Board and Abba El-Mustapha.
Furthermore, the court granted an ex parte motion, moved by the applicants through their counsel, Barrister AA Rabiu Doka, praying for the court to quash all decisions, directives, or any other orders made by the respondents against the applicants on February 15, 2024.
Additionally, the court granted a request for the three applicants to continue their lawful business pending the hearing on the suit before it.
Justice Hadiza Suleiman then adjourned the case to April 29, 2024, for a hearing. (Nigerian Tribune)
