Adekunle Ajasin University shut as students protest death of colleague

The authorities of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba, Akoko Ondo State, Nigeria, late Saturday announced the immediate closure of the institution.

This followed the destruction of properties within and outside the university premises by some students over the death of a student who was involved in an accident involving a commercial motorcycle outside the university campus on Friday, April 8.

Acting Registrar Sunday Ayeerun said in a statement: “The ongoing examinations is also immediately suspended while all students are to leave the campus and halls of residence immediately.

“Students would be informed when to resume for the completion of their on-going examination at a later date.

“The management has also set up a panel to look into the protest so as to guide against such occurrence in future. Parents and guardians are hereby informed of this development.”
