Disgruntled civil servants are protesting against what they claimed were irregularities in the arrangement made by the in Delta State Civil Service Commission in the conduct of promotion examination.
The protesting civil servants from grade level 5 to10 pressed home their demand in Asaba, the capital of Delta State in Nigeria’s southern region.
They accused the commission of causing delays in the promotion process while calling for a proper re-organisation of the examination.
They expressed dissatisfaction with the method adopted, alleging that some names were omitted from the list which they said had deprived those affected from participating in the exercise.
In her reaction, the Chairman of the Delta State Civil Service Commission, Dame Nkem, explained that the promotion examination was done in batches, as part of efforts to clear the backlog of those overdue for promotion.
While the protesters call on the Delta State government to intervene and resolve the situation, it appears the promotion examination has been placed on hold, as a result of the controversy. (Channels TV)
