President Muhammadu Buhari is desperate to wash his hands off Nnamdi Kanu’s case and is looking for a way out for a soft landing, Kanu’s group, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has claimed.
Alleging that the letter which Kanu’s lawyers recently wrote to the British High Commission in Nigeria was being deliberately misinterpreted by the Nigerian Govenrment and its media backers, IPOB said in a statement issued on Friday, signed by its Spokespersons Barrister Emma Nmezu and Dr. Clifford Chukwuemeka Iroanya: “Buhari’s plan is to hide under this misinterpreted letter and release Nnamdi Kanu to British Government and then avoid facing him in the court of law. Nigeria should come to the court to prove their bogus treasonable felony charge against our leader and Buhari must stop scavenging for soft landing.
“Retired Major General Muhammadu Buhari & Co, we look forward to meeting you at “Philippi” because there will not be any soft landing for you!!!”
IPOB in the statement dismissed reports that Kanu in the letter dated 24th of March 2016 begged the British Government to set him free “from the illegal detention imposed by Buhari’s DSS.”
The group said that “nothing could be further from the truth,” adding: “The central theme of that letter was to bring the attention of the British Government to the shenanigans going on in the court which include the disobedience to court orders by Buhari and his agents, the lack of confidence in both the Nigerian Judicial System and the trial Judge (Hon Justice John Tsoho), and the unarguable Executive interference evidenced by the unguarded and prejudiced utterances of Buhari.”
