A former member of the Abia House of Assembly, Hon Destiny Nwagwu, who was sacked by the Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos has vowed to resume sitting at the House, claiming that the Supreme Court verdict which validated the election of Governor Alex Otti, has also affirmed his victory.

The court of Appeal had on November 30, 2023, sacked Nwagwu who was elected on the platform of the Labour Party,LP, and declared Hon. Uzodike Aaron, as the winner of the March 18,2023, state Assembly election in the constituency.

Briefing journalists in Aba, Nwagwu, who represented the Aba North state constituency until his sack, insisted that he remains the lawmaker representing the constituency.

He wondered why the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is crying over the same Court of Appeal judgment which sacked 16 of her members from the Plateau state House of Assembly but have been putting pressure on the Speaker of Abia state House of Assembly to swear in Hon.Aaron.

He described the PDP’s position on the matter as hypocrisy and vowed to resume sitting soon.

He said; “Injustice anywhere is Injustice everywhere.”

Meanwhile, the PDP has urged the Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa to swear in the member elect who was declared by the court of Appeal.

The party stated that Aaron has received a certificate of return from INEC and fulfilled all conditions necessary for his swearing in as a member of the Assembly. (Vanguard)
