Five youths have been abducted following an attack linked to a lingering boundary dispute between two neighbouring communities in Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State.
Police sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident was reported at about 1:50 p.m. on July 25 by the Executive Chairman of Boki Local Government Area.
According to the report, a group of youths from Nsadop Community had gone to their farmland for communal work when they were allegedly surrounded by armed youths from neighbouring Boje Community.
The attackers, who were armed with dangerous weapons, reportedly assaulted the group before abducting five of them to an unknown location.
Police sources said the exact motive for the abduction is yet to be established, but preliminary findings suggest that the incident may be connected to the protracted boundary dispute between the two communities.
Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Boki mobilised a team of officers to the area to assess the situation and commence rescue operations.
The police said investigations are ongoing, while efforts have been intensified to rescue the abducted victims unharmed and apprehend those responsible for the attack. (Zagazola)
