A shake-up was yesterday effected in Nigeria’s civil service over the padding of the 2016 budget. A thoroughly embarrassed President Muhammadu Buhari had vowed not to spare anyone found to be involved in the fraud which exposed his fledgling administration to monumental ridicule across the world.
A highly placed government source toldNews Expresslast night: “4 Directors, 6 Deputy Directors and 12 Assistant Directors have been posted out of the Budget Office, with 14 others posted to the Budget Office from other Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs). It is part of a service-wide posting affecting 184 senior staff in the MDAs.”
The source disclosed that the posting was carried out from the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs. Winnifred Oyo-Ita, and that the affected senior staff are to report in their new areas of posting today,March 11, 2016.
On the reason for the shake-up, the source said: “It may not be unconnected with the directive of the President for those responsible for the budget controversy to be sanctioned.”
