Kano women rise against rape

Women in Kano have protested against the rising cases of rape in the city. About 30 cases of rape are reported weekly in the state.

The demonstrators, which included lawyers and religious leaders, demanded that the authorities do more to protect young children and ensure that culprits are brought to justice.

A mother of a 13-year-old said her daughter is still suffering from trauma and psychological stigma since she was raped by a 35-year-old man last January.
