Stand-up comedian and actor,Julius Agwuhas hinted that his former wife, Ibiere Maclayton, may have married him primarily for his financial status at the time.
In an interview, Agwu reflected on his past marriage and his battle with a brain tumour.
Agwu emphasized the importance of seeking Gods guidance before entering into a long-lasting union as he expressed regret for not considering this aspect before his previous marriage.
He shared his belief that marriages without a foundation in God are unlikely to endure.
He further explained most women that agree to marriage primarily because of the mans money would not hesitate to chicken out when the chips are down.
Agwu said: I believe that any marriage without God would not last. When I married my wife, I did not even consult God. Some of us got married when there was so much money, and at that time, practically every girl wanted to be with us.
But, after marriage, if anything happens to one, they would say, I dont want this man again. I suggest that people should consult God first before getting married.
The veteran entertainer further commented on getting over his failed marriage and acknowledged the invaluable lessons it taught him, as well as the possibility of considering remarriage someday.
He added: Life is very good and enjoyable now. When that (separation) happened, I was fighting with a lot; thinking about my sickness and my family.
I thank God because I know everything happens for a reason. When there is life, there is hope. But, a time will come when I might reconsider marriage, he added.
Julius Agwu and his ex-wife got married in May 2008. In 2022, he confirmed his marriage crash claiming that his wife had had enough of their marriage and had to leave.
He revealed he had a brain tumour in 2015. On travelling to London to do a show the next year, just two days before the event, he was rushed to the hospital where he was admitted and spent three months in a coma.(the Nation)
