The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET) has made the following predictions about Nigeria’s weather condition for today, Tuesday, January 19, 2016:
NORTHERN STATES: Visibility is expected to deteriorate over Maiduguri, Potiskum, Kano, Katsina, Gombe and Yola to visibility values of 1-3km due to Dust Haze. Night time temperatures are expected to be in the range of 10- 15oC.
CENTRAL STATES: Places like Abuja, Minna, Bida, Nassarawa, Ilorin and Makurdi are also expected to be affected with visibility reduction of 2-3Km in dust haze. Night time temperatures are expected to be in the range of 13-17oC.
SOUTHERN STATES: Early morning prospects of fog/ mist conditions are likely over Lagos, Port Harcourt, Eket and Calabar. Ikom, Obudu, Abakaliki and neighboring cities will be hazy while partly cloudy to cloudy situation are not unlikely in the afternoon over the rest of the southern cities. Night time temperatures are expected to be in the range of 13-22oC.
NOTE: During this period of the year, the atmosphere is usually very dry, windy and dusty. Citizens should avoid substances that may ignite easily to reduce incidences of fire outbreaks. Flight operations may be disrupted due to poor visibility in some airports across the country.
