The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET) has made the following predictions about Nigeria’s weather condition for today, Monday, January 18, 2016:

NORTHERN STATES: Hazy and sunny conditions are expected over this region while dust haze in moderate visibility is expected in places like Sokoto, Katsina, Kano and Yelwa. Night time temperatures are expected to be in the range of 12-18oC.

CENTRAL STATES: Further improvement in visibility values are likely over Abuja, Lafia, Minna, Lokoja, Ilorin and environs. Temperatures in the night are expected to be between 15-20oC.

SOUTHERN STATES: Cloudy situations are not unlikely in the morning over the inland areas like Ibadan, Abeokuta, Oshogbo, Owerri, Enugu and Awka. There are chances of morning mist/fog patches over the coastal cities. Partly cloudy to cloudy situations are anticipated over the south in the afternoon which may lead to light showers over Calabar and Eket. Night time temperatures are expected to be within the range of 18-26oC.

NOTE: At this time of the year, the atmosphere is usually very dry, windy and dusty. Citizens should avoid substances that may ignite fire easily to minimise incidences of fire outbreaks.
