Today’s weather outlook, By the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET)

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET) has made the following predictions about Nigeria’s weather condition for today, Thursday, December 31, 2015:

NORTHERN STATES: Maiduguri, Potiskum, Kano, Nguru, Yola and environs should generally expect dust haze in moderate visibility of about 2-4km. Katsina and environ are however likely to have visibility less than 1,000m. Night-time temperature is expected to range between 8-15oC.

CENTRAL STATES: Lafia should be fine while Abuja, Bida, Minna should expect visibility reduction to 2-5km because of dust. Night-time temperature is expected to be between 15-20oC.

SOUTHERN STATES: Visibility values over Lagos, Port Harcourt, Calabar, Oshogbo, Ibadan and Akure are expected to be between 2-5km. Night-time temperature is predicted to be between 13-20oC.

NOTE: During this period of the year, the atmosphere is usually very dry, dusty and windy. Citizens should avoid substances that may ignite fire easily, to reduce incidences of fire outbreaks.
