Wife of the Anambra State Governor, Chief (Mrs.) Ebelechukwu Obiano, has extended her motherly love to the children of Anambra State, giving them a sense of belonging in the spirit of the Yuletide season.

Speaking at a special party she put together for over a thousand children drawn from different parts of the state at the Governor’s Lodge in Amawbia, Awka, the governor’s wife expressed happiness that the children honoured her invitation to celebrate Christmas with her and her family. She wished them Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.

Mrs. Obiano called on the children to be obedient to their parents and seniors even while imbibing the virtues of hard work as it is an important feature in the new Anambra State.

While advising them to be part of the solution in the society instead of the problem, Mrs. Obiano charged the children to take their studies serious so that the state would be the best in Nigeria in line with its motto, “Light of the Nation’.

In her words, “I want you children to take your academics serious. Be the best you want to be so that Anambra State will be the best state in the country.

“I want you to live by example, imbibe everything good so you can be at the top as the best. That way, we can maintain our position as the best and the light of the nation.”

Highlights of the event included dancing competition, question and answer session, spelling competition, cutting of the Christmas cake by the governor’s wife and the presentation of toys and school bags containing some educational materials to all the children in attendance.
