The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET) has identified at least 19 Nigerian cities to experience poor visibility today, Sunday, December 27, 2015. They are Port Harcourt, Yenagoa, Calabar, Lagos, Abeokuta, Ibadan, Ondo, Umuahia, Awka, Enugu, Bida, Ilorin, Gombe, Nguru, Sokoto, Gusau, Kano, Katsina and Maiduguri. Below is NiMET’s weather forecast for the day:
COASTAL AREAS: Dust haze is expected to prevail. Places like Port Harcourt, Yenagoa and Calabar and its environs should expect reduction in visibility (1-3km) due to dust haze throughout the forecast period. Lagos may experience poorer visibility.
INLAND AREAS: Dust haze is expected to prevail over places like Abeokuta, Ibadan, Ondo, Umuahia, Awka and Enugu with visibility of 1-3km in most places throughout the forecast period.
CENTRAL STATES: Dust haze is expected to prevail with localised visibility of less than or equal 1,000m in some cities like Bida, Ilorin, Gombe and its environs throughout the forecast period
NORTHERN STATES: Dust haze conditions are expected to prevail over some cities like Nguru, Sokoto, Gusau, Kano, Katsina and Maiduguri these cities are expected to have reduction in visibility to less than 1,000m within the forecast period.
