Obiano commissions police quarters, says Anambra to remain Nigeria’s safest state

In line with his commitment to providing an enabling environment for the security agencies to secure life and properties in Anambra state, Governor Willie Obiano has commissioned a new Quarters for the Otuocha Division of the Nigeria Police.

Inaugurating the project Friday in Aguleri, Governor Obiano posited that the comfort of the officers and men of the Nigerian police who are leading the war against criminals in Anambra State is of utmost importance to his administration.

Obiano, who was represented by his chief of Staff, Prof. Joe Asike, also restated his commitment to ensure that Anambra remains the safest state in Nigeria.

The governor reiterated that his administration has continued to make community policing effective in the state, calling on relevant stakeholders like community leaders and Ndi Anambra as a whole to join hands together in ensuring that Anambra remains the safest state in the federation by assisting the police. According to him, security is a collective responsibility and as such it is incumbent on individuals to offer some useful information to the police.

In his remarks, the state commissioner of police, Hosea H. Karma, represented by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Ali Okechukwu, commended Obiano on the robust relationship that exists between the command and the state government as well as his commitment to crime fighting.

Also speaking at the occasion, the state Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Engr. Frank Emeka Offor, stated that the commissioning of the quarters is a further demonstration of love, unabated support and commitment of the Obiano led administration to the welfare of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force.

Earlier in his remarks, the Divisional Police Officer of Otuocha Division, CSP Christopher Bassey, expressed the Division’s gratitude, saying: “My gratitude comes from the unique support the government has given to the police command since the inception of Willie Obiano-led administration; one of which is providing a comfortable accommodation, a water project and a generator to power the water pump, being commissioned in Otuocha Police station today.”

CSP Bassey noted that the projects are geared towards giving the police comfort, a sense of belonging, encouragement and an enabling environment to give its best to the community.
