Buhari to sack 2,000 varsity workers in January

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the sack of 2,000 university workers across the country by next month, January 2016.

Mr. Samson Ugwoke, National President of the Senior Staff Association of the Nigerian Universities (SSANU), disclosed this yesterday at a press briefing in the country’s capital, Abuja.

He further disclosed that, following the presidential directive, that the National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission and the National Universities Commission have written letters of termination of appointment to the affected staff from 31 universities.

The SSANU President gave the Federal Government up to December 24, 2015 to reverse the decision or the union would embark on an indefinite strike over the issue.
