Ogun to commission 40 projects to mark 40th anniversary —Amosun

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has assured that not less than 40 major projects would be commissioned as part of activities to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the State in February 2016.

He equally promised to ensure that the projects, spread across different sectors and covering all three senatorial districts of the state, would be of high quality.

Governor Amosun said many of these projects could have been ready in the last one year but for the painstaking efforts of his administration to ensure the delivery of high quality jobs in the spirit of what he described as “the Ogun standards.”

He spoke while recently inspecting some of the projects, among them the on-going 40km Sango-Ijoko-Akute-Ojodu road; Ilo Awela-Ota road; Ayetoro-Lafenwa road and the Ota Mall project.

Senator Amosun said the State Government was running round the clock to ensure that the various contractors meet stipulated deadlines.

The Governor emphasised that the 40th anniversary celebration is not about his administration but the entire state. He explained that apart from President Muhammadu Buhari, who would commission the projects, many of the state’s founding fathers, dead and alive, would also be celebrated.

He said: “We have more than 40 projects but we are trying to see those that will be ready and which will cut across the 5-cardinal programmes of our administration. Everything we do in Ogun must be top notch that others will copy.

“Apart from having Mr. President around for the commissioning of these projects, many of our founding fathers who are still alive would be in attendance while the deceased would be celebrated because this anniversary is not about Amosun and his administration but the state at large.”

Governor Amosun, who was accompanied on the project tour by his Deputy, Chief (Mrs) Yetunde Onanuga, and members of the State Executive Council, also disclosed that the proposed rail project of his administration would connect various parts of the state and further ease the movement of goods and people.
